Our Comprehensive Verification Process

1. Criminal Background Checks

Every nanny must pass a thorough criminal background check conducted by accredited third-party verification services. We check:

  • National criminal records database
  • Provincial and local criminal records
  • Sex offender registry
  • Child abuse registry
  • Court records and outstanding warrants

Any record involving violence, theft, fraud, or crimes against children results in automatic disqualification.

2. Identity Verification

We verify the identity of every nanny using government-issued identification. This ensures that the person you meet is exactly who they claim to be. We validate:

  • Driver's license or passport
  • Social insurance number (for tax purposes)
  • Proof of address
  • Right to work in Canada

3. Reference Checking

All nannies must provide at least three professional references from previous employers or families they've worked with. Our team personally contacts each reference to verify:

  • Employment dates and responsibilities
  • Reliability and punctuality
  • Childcare skills and approach
  • Reason for leaving previous positions
  • Would they hire this nanny again?

4. Certification Validation

We verify all claimed certifications and qualifications, including:

  • Current CPR certification
  • First Aid training (within last 2 years)
  • Early Childhood Education (ECE) credentials
  • Special needs training (if applicable)
  • Food handler certification (if applicable)

All certifications must be current and from recognized Canadian institutions.

5. In-Person or Video Interview

Selected nannies undergo an interview with our vetting team to assess:

Ongoing Monitoring

Our commitment to safety doesn't end after initial approval. We maintain ongoing vigilance through:

  • Certification renewal tracking to ensure qualifications stay current
  • Continuous rating evaluation with investigation of low ratings
  • Family feedback analysis to identify potential safety issues

What Disqualifies a Nanny?

We maintain strict standards. Nannies are disqualified for:

  • Any criminal conviction involving children
  • Violent crimes or sexual offenses
  • Drug-related convictions within the past 7 years
  • Theft or fraud convictions
  • False information on application
  • Inability to provide valid references
  • Expired or invalid certifications
  • Pattern of negative reviews or safety concerns

Your Role in Safety

While we conduct thorough screening, we encourage families to:

  • Conduct your own interview and ask detailed questions
  • Check reviews from other families who've worked with the nanny
  • Request to see original copies of certifications
  • Have a trial period or initial meet-and-greet
  • Trust your instincts and report any concerns immediately
  • Establish clear emergency procedures and contacts

We believe in complete transparency. Every nanny profile clearly displays:

  • Background check completion date
  • Verification status badge
  • All certifications with expiry dates
  • Number of completed bookings
  • Average rating and total reviews
  • Years of experience
